New Mid Range or Old Flag Ship

[AC Question]

My Girlfriend needs a new phone (she is using an old windows phone I had, and a low end one at that).

I am looking at several options and not sure what to get. I have found phones like the Galaxy S6, LG G5 and LGv10 for around $250. (Ebay, used, with warranties)

For the same price I could get a phone like the MOTO G5PLUS (with ads from amazon).

One the one hand some of the older phones out "spec" the new ones. but I am worried about support for an old phone. Things like security or getting new android versions.

Basically I am trying to stay around $250 (she is not a heavy phone user)

Alcatel Idols 5S
