The new model chromecast does not come with the USB connector, only the A/C connector. Can I use a standard USB cable to connect the chromecast directly to the USB port on the TV?

I believe the cable is removeable from the power brick.

Ya but with the old ones they included both. Guess they got cheap and figured most people have a micro usb cable hangin around, so they make an extra 3¢ profit on each unit ;-)

The cable that fits the brick is a USB cable. ..just pull from the power block and plug into TV. I just tried that with my new model chromecast...works fine.

Ya, I was just commenting that the original model came with that cable, the new model doesnt.

And I am telling you it DOES come with that cable. I have 2 "old" and 1 new Chromecast. All 3 the cable that goes to the AC adapter is a standard USB cable and can be detached from the AC adapter and then plugged into a USB port on your TV.
