The headphones are pretty darn good. I have no complaints with this gift. Much better than the Gear 360 I chose last year. I would've ordered the phone even if they weren't offering any gifts.

I too noticed that the big difference is in the trade in values. My old GS7 edge would only fetch $100 now instead of $300. That being said, I already have my Bose noise canceling headphones and I have last year's AKG headphones (non noise canceling) gift.

Why not just sell the headphones if you don't need them? They would probably fetch more than the charger.

I would like to know this as well! I preordered from Best Buy and the phones are ready for pickup today. If this applies to any purchase of Note 9, I may ask if my phone is in stock at the store (128G purple) and cancel my preorder if it is. Wireless charger is much more useful to me than headphones.

You can probably sell the headphones and get a much better cradle than that and still come ahead... This isn't a great charger unless you already have the watch, and even then, that's huge. Much better (cheaper) options out there. If it had DeX outputs, then yeah, I would have been interested, but as a charging dock, it's just too bulky and not great if you don't have the watch.

I am with you on this. Got a great trade-in on my Note 5 and then did the $99 for the head phones and Fortnite promo. Got my son to cut the grass 5X for free!

Right. I was talking about the new promotion. From what I can tell it’s only available from Samsung direct. Fine print says “must add bundle to cart”. Not very clear.

My brother in law asked Best Buy when he went to pick up today about it and they said they don't offer that promo. Looks like it's a Samsung only thing or the Best Buy guy is confused.

This is a pretty good deal but the trade in values now compared to the preorder period are dramatically lower. I got $500 for trading in my note 8. Something else to consider as well is the fact that the charging duo isn’t even Samsung’s best charging solution. The phone charger portion is non convertible and the gear portion is only useful if you have a gear watch. Choosing your own case is a nice bonus though and $100 for the gear icon headphones is nice too. Of course the ideal solution would have been for Samsung to have these gifts from the start along with the really high trade in credit amounts but I guess I can’t complain when I’m getting stuff for free.
