I just got my M9 last weekend. I have a few questions that I hope you can help me with.

1. I prefer short and simple notification sounds. However, the M9's 'short and simple' sounds all sound similar and are very hard to distinguish from each other... because they are short. They are also very 'quiet and polite'. I either don't hear them at (especially at work) or I can't determine what the notification is trying to tell me. Is there a way to get louder and more distinguishing sounds added to the selection? The old Motorola "Captain's Log" notification was perfect (and I am not a StarTrek fan... LOL).

2. I am a diabetic. My old Motorola Droid had a feature that allowed ICE (In Case of Emergency) numbers to be dialed directly from the lock screen along with medic alert information. Is there anything like this feature on the M9?

3. I have watched several YouTube videos about Tips and Tricks for the M9. One of those tips was info about the "Quick Settings" screen that can be pulled down with a double swipe. It talked about a "screenshot" shortcut that can be added to the screen. That feature is not shown on my phone. It is not present in the top (active) list or the lower (disabled) list. What do I have to do to get this feature?

4. When I open my emails, I have to select "Display Images" every single time. How do I set it up to display the images by default?

5. Finally, the 'double-tap to wake up' feature doesn't always work. When it doesn't work, it doesn't matter if I tap faster, slower, harder, in a different area, etc., it simply will not work. I have to use the power button to wake up the screen. Plus, I have NEVER gotten the 'double-tap to sleep' function to work (and, yes, I am trying it while I am on the home screen). Am I wrong about how this is supposed to function or am I doing something incorrectly?

I'll see if I can answer some of these.

1) If you'd like to find other notification sounds, download Zedge from Google Play. It has literally thousands of notification sounds, ringtones, wallpapers, etc. I'm sure you'll be able to find louder sounds that would be more useful to you.

2) I haven't found any way to display ICE information on the lock screen in the stock OS, though I do recall there are apps in the Play Store that will mimic this function.

3) Double swipe down on your status bar to get to your quick toggles and tap the icon that looks like a piece of paper and pen at the top next to the Settings gear icon. This will allow you to customize your quick settings toggles, one of which is Screenshot. Touch the 3 horizontal bars on the right to "pick up" a toggle and move it around (this changes the order) and if you scroll down, you can enable the Screenshot toggle by putting a check in the box next to it. Then, you'll be able to simply double swipe down from the status bar, tap Screenshot, and it will take a screenshot for you.

4) I don't use the stock email app, so I'm afraid I can't help with this one.

5) The double tap to wake isn't quite like other phones (LG phones or the Nexus 6 when enabled). On HTC phones you have to either pick the phone up in portrait orientation, then double tap the screen or I've found that if you simply bump the phone (or make it rock side to side) then double tap, it will wake right up. It takes a little practice, but once you've got it it's like second nature.

On the stock launcher, there is no double tap to sleep. However, you can now edit your Navigation Bar buttons to include a "Turn Off Screen" button that will be beside your Back/Home/Recents keys. Alternately, you can try a third party launcher like Nova and then install an app (I use Screen Off and Lock) and set the double tap gesture in Nova settings to point to that app. Then you can double tap anywhere on the home screen and make the phone sleep.

Hope these answers help!

1. Download "Zedge". It's a free app on the Google Play store where you can download thousands of different notification sounds, ringtones, and wallpapers.

2. Try the "ICE: In Case of Emergency" app on Google Play: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...ls?id=com.appventive.ice&hl=en&token=LL74QbE3 . It costs $3.99 but it has 4.4 stars (out of 5) in its reviews.

3. I'm not sure how to do this.

4. In order to always display images, if you use gmail, go to "settings" in your gmail app, click on your gmail email address, scroll down to "Images" and tap on it and check the radio box that says "Always show".

5. I don't have any issues with my double tap to wake feature, so I don't know how to help you. Are you using a tempered screen protector? Maybe you have to tap harder.

If you don't move the phone you have to triple tap in the same place to wake it up.

Thanks. That helps tremendously. The only thing is about the screenshot quick access. I understand how to enable the icons that are present. What I was trying to say is that the screenshot icon is simply not present on my phone to enable. It is not in "activated" list at the top of the screen or in the "can be activated" list at the bottom of the screen.

What carrier are you on? Sometimes certain carriers take certain functions out.

For #3, I would add that you can single swipe with TWO fingers, as well.

Sent from Tapatalk on either my HTC One M9 or Tab4 10.1, it kinda depends
