Who really wants to stay on their current phone but always struggle and get deep anxiety when new tech comes out? Man this has to be a condition in the DSM but regardless it's very difficult. I love my Pixel but that dual camera setup on that S9+ is so tempting but with my toddler and 5 year old plus new puppy coming in a few weeks I don't want to chance the photos not coming out as consistently great as my Pixel 2 XL does. Then you know something else will drop soon and then it will make the carousel start all over. Is there a cure? 😂

Samsung cameras with even slightly movement struggle. The software and image processing on my Pixel 2 captures my two year old 90% of the time no matter what. Best bet is to stick with the Pixel.

Oh I am. I cancelled my pre-order but it was a serious dilemma prior to making that decision. Lol

No cure, I have the same disease and trying to get over it but couldn't resist and got the S9+ as well. For now I'm saying to myself alright I'll restrain myself to Samsung, Google and Apple flagships in a year and slowly phase out. How successful I'll be only time can say

At least I built up some kind of restraint to pass up the one plus latest, mate 10 pro, LG flagship etc. Before used to pull the trigger on them as well. So I think I'm getting better

I can honestly say I am calming down on the phone swapping. Been doing it for the past 2-3 years a lot but got the Pixel 2 XL and haven't really been tempted to buy anything else.

I did get to try an iPhone X for awhile. Buddy got one and let me use it for awhile just to see the other side of the fence for a little with their latest and greatest.

Yeah, former compulsive phone swapper here also. I find these days there is not enough included in the new releases to trip my trigger like previous years. Samsung, not at all. After having a couple of Sammys I've had my fill of that brand. But the rest while interesting to read about and follow along with the users just doesn;t do it anymore. I really believe the pixel has a lot to do with it in my case. It just rings every bell there is. On occassion if I start to feel a tad squirrely I just put my sim into my backup device iPhone and use it for a day or two as that is about all I can handle being away from android and pixel. Works everytime and the squirrel goes back in his cage. Unless my P2 drowns in the river I won't be needing a P3 either as this device is just to sweet.

I do get a minimal phone itch now and then but can usually stick to a phone for at least 16-18 months before getting a new phone.

I have had absolutely zero interest in any phone since I got the Pixel 2 XL ---- and won't in the future ---- until the Pixel 3 XL comes out. Then the struggle will be real

Kate and I are on Google Fi and she is using an old Nexus 6 that's on it's last battery legs. She wants my Pixel 2 XL and I want a Pixel 3 XL. We have a relationship that really works! :)

I find the best thing to do to limit your phone buying or swapping is make a buying decision based on your needs, and not reviews or opinions here. Eliminates the self-doubt.

this is part of the reason why I'm loving the pixel line so much... you'll have the latest os updates for 3 years so you won't fully feel like you're missing out on the latest and greatest. In my opinion there's real value in that for anyone who owns their devices for a period greater than 12 months.

I've got both. Still doesn't help slow it down. 😂

This is how it works for me...

Wallet: You have rent. Internet bills. Regular expenses. Moving in with your boyfriend. A cat to take care of. And you're saving for a couple of bigger purchases.

Brain: ... Ooohhh, but look at that phone over there!

Wallet: *smacks head*

That's kinda where I was as well. Almost exactly except the boyfriend and cat part.

This... I went through a two year long exercise in futility with my wife's phone... She bounced between various LG's and Samsung's and each time she was annoyed that the quality of the pics of our kids consistently came out looking better from my 6P, particularly in less than ideal lighting. She hated the over-processed look... So much so that I swapped phones with get last spring... Once she had the 6P in hand, no more complaints.

The nature of how the Pixels process photos gives them a built in advantage. Leaning heavily on multi frame processing, Google's phones take shorter exposures. This limits motion blur. And when combined with the fact that Google hates artificial processing, you get reliable shots of the kiddies that look like the kiddies and not some heavily overworked mess... No beauty modes that destroy skin tones, no noise reduction that delete that little freckle on the cheek of my youngest.

They look real.
