New Rezound ICS leak.

Go to this post: XDA link and download the Full Stock RUU file. When it is done, the MD5 should read: 6ba6f7f2905017002e94dd7f1e8c7b0a

I downloaded and ran this one today, replaced everything back to internal memory and am enjoy ICS goodness.

could I not just use the stock tool to put the phone back to stock. I haven't rooted before BTW. I am totally stock now, but obviously something is jacked up somewhere. How do I do a full factory reset and does the RUU file you are listing above do that? If so I shouldn't have any problem getting there with the stock tool right?

Thoughts? Instructions?

The RUU file is the one you are going to rename to PH98IMG.zip and flash. I'm thinking you have a corrupted download file, the link in that post is a much better mirror.
Do you have a spare SD card? What I did was download, rename and put on blank memory card, took out battery and swapped cards, booted into hboot and it took off from there.

Thanks so much for the explanation. I do not have a spare SD card unfortunately. but I assume that moving all the data off of it and placing it on my PC desktop would be just as good wouldn't it?

I think I'll just try using your download mirror first, as hopefully that will remedy the issue.

yeah that is what I did, even though I have a spare (lazy)...

Moved everything to a folder on the PC, did the flash thing, moved what I wanted back

I found that the first time I wanted to install a STOCK ICS leak an a Gingerbread phone I had to unlock the bootloader BEFORE placing the zip file (renamed to "PH98IMG.zip") on the root of the SD card. Do not unzip the file.

To unlock, go to htcdev.com, register/sign in, go to unlock bootloader and follow the clear instructions, but meticulous steps. Once unlocked, leave the window on your computer open, as you will need to re-lock after the zip file is loaded. This is not rooting, just unlocking.

Use Astro, Solid Explorer, or another file manager to be sure the extension in the file name ends in zip and not zip.zip (Win 7 tends to add a second ".zip" automatically).

You will need to wipe data and flashing will wipe as well. Apps were wiped. Photos and music did not erase on my phone, but back up in case they get wiped on yours.

When the phone connected to the computer, you will see 3 drives for your phone: a VZ logo CDROM [but it's not a CD drive]; HTC Storage; and Removable Disk. Place the zip file on the root of Removable Disk. You could re-lock now.

Then follow the instructions for flashing - pull the battery, restart holding vol down, etc. The phone should see and open the zip file. If it didn't, unlock, flash, then re-lock.

The next time you install a stock leak, you should be able to place it on the SD card and flash without unlocking.

Has anyone else noticed their data gettin faster with the new radios? When I first got the phone, I was pulling speeds of 30 megs down, Then the first update came, after that I could only get about 10 megs down. I complained like crazy. After the upgrade I can get 19 megabytes again. Which is a drastic improvement. See the attachment.

I guess the best thing to take from this for future reference is to avoid rapidahare links to files. It's great b/c hosting is free but that place always causes problems for more people than it's worth.

The funny thing is, I got the same results from both rapidshare and one of those other magnets I'd never heard of before. That's why I was so sure it could not be a corrupted file. I'd waited hours to download it twice, and gotten the exact same results. But like I said when I went to transfer those onto the device it only took a few seconds for them to transfer. It took a good 3 or 4 minutes for the "good" file to transfer. I also think emptying the SD card totally helped somehow as well.

Alot of those freware hosts are slow as molasses if you don't join the pay service to dl files.

Before I do this simple upgrade to ICS I have two questions. I am a super noob so go easy.

1) Is there a way to get it back to stock Gingerbread as easy as it is to upgrade to ICS? I am a very tech savvy person however all of the rooting scares the bejesus out of me and I don't understand any of the terminology used even when reading through step by step instructions on how to root.
2) Other forums and people posting elsewhere are saying that even if the build number of the OTA is higher, we will not receive the push.

I really just don't want to screw myself until December 2013 with this phone...

Thanks in advance!

1) yes, you can do the S-Off procedure which requires shorting your phone into service mode.

2) Not true. The truth is nobody knows what it will or won't allow to accept the OTA. However assume that you won't get it.

3) If you don't want to screw yourself until 12/13 ?? Unlock / S-Off now. The ICS OTA we have coming(whenever that is) is likely the ONLY update this phone is going to see again.

Yes, definitely download it from the link above, instead of the one's on Android Police.

So, got the new leak installed, got Amon Ra, went to the developer menu, installed su, rebooted, installed superuser (then read "If you're using the ICS leaks, get supersu"), got that...and I'm stuck without root.

Supersu says the superuser binary needs to be updated. I say "OK", and it fails immediately. No app can get SU permission.

I hope I'm missing something easy here...

Found a solution:

Get this zip file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1046553&d=1336400579

Put it on your sdcard (the internal one).

Boot into hboot (power down, hold vol down and power)

Select recovery

Navigate to flash zip...sorry I don't remember the exact navigation, but find your way to where you browse the sd card and select the file. Hit the power button to select, and again to confirm.

Once it's done, back out and reboot.

Start SuperSU again; this time it'll successfully update and you're off and running.

So i am probably fixing to jump on this from completely stock. Is it worth it to unlock and root first just to unroot and relock to get the update, or should i just flash the update and then unlock and root?

Don't do anything before "probably" becomes I am "definitely". If you were planning on unlocking and rooting w/ the leak in mind. IMO, it really doesn't matter which way you go. You get to the same destination, either way. Just follow the guides/instructions to the letter, no matter what you do. I do slightly think your better off running the leak while stock, then unlocking and rooting later should you feel the need to revert to recieve the actual push.
