New ROM and poor battery life

I just rooted my Fascinate and flashed the Super Clean ROM, which was an adventure. I've got it running and everything looks good except for the battery life. The battery used to last most of the day but today the battery was dead in 5 hours. What did I do wrong in the settings? How can I fix it? The sync icon seems to come one in the notification bar more often than it did before I flashed the ROM. Should I re-flash or use a different ROM or what?

Go into your settings to see what is using up your battery:
Menu>Settings>About phone>Battery use

I checked. It said 98% battery on calls, which was odd because I haven't made but 14 calls.

there are a few suggestions that have moved to the top of the hacks thread....you may want to check them out. Mine is a fast drain as well using superclean 2.4, so I am trying one of the suggestions.
