New ROM? Old Apps?

I'm ready to try a new ROM, thinking about Fission. Here's some questions:

  1. Once I load new ROM, how do I restore my previously loaded apps? Or are they still just there?
  2. Deodx? What's this? Do I need it to go forward?
  3. Go back? I'll do a backup from Clockworks, is it a simple restore to get me back to generic VZW load?

1 if you don't wipe data they will be their
2 the stock rom has an odex file for all the apks just gives you the option of themeing your phone
3 if you do a nandroid backup prior to flashing the rom its very easy

Ok, I did it. Loaded Fission, loaded some themes, very cool.

I did wipe all data and cache, but almost everything magically came back via my gmail account. One program didn't get restored "Family Locator (A)". I bought it on the Market, but it's been pulled (it was a front end to AT&T Family Map). I just did a restore from my original droid backup, and all is back, including Family Map.

But I really like Fission, and want to go back. How can I pull a single app off of my original firmware, then restore on the Fission version? I've got a shell into the droid via ADB, but I cannot find the app or how to copy the components that make the app work. What's the trick?

The easiest way would be to get titanium backup from the market. Open it accept the root permission find the app then click backup. Load fission and use the same app to restore it. If you want the app data choose to restore app and data

Ok, getting close. I'm settling in with Fission, and liking it a lot. But I'm noticing a couple of stock moto things missing.

QuickOffice and VoiceCommands. They are system apps, and I've got backups of them in Titanium, but I don't see an option for a restore. Any idea how to move them over?

Thanks,
Jeff

You have two options and adb push or use root explorer and paste it in system application then long press it change the permissions on to read all checked and only the top one can write then reboot
