So I was a note 7 owner, sadly I returned my phone last night, ended up getting the s7edge in pink from best buy.
I like the phone, I'm not in love with it like I was with the note 7, and I hate the fact that I'll be stuck with it for 2 years, since it didn't qualify for the yearly upgrade One issue I'm having with it is that it gets really hot, just by browsing, I don't have a lot of apps. I don't remember my note 7 getting this hot. Is this normal?

I installed cpu temp app from the appstore and this is what I got

I am not the battery expert and that temp might be an acceptable high, but I personally would be exchanging my phone if it got that warm. The temp on my phone is 88, sitting on a wireless fast charging plate. I do not like when and if my batteries go past 100 degrees.

113 is the highest it should go. I advise you to try try replace it. They may try having you troubleshoot but I wouldnt put up with much of that.

Yes, you may be required by your carrier to do a factory reset. That said, you might not have any issue at all returning it since you just got it. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the replies...and yes it feels a little too hot and uncomfortable for my hands...
I don't understand the difference in temperature of the battery and cpu?? Why is cpu so high??

Mines been getting hot ever since I update Google photos . And has been killing the battery insanely. Anyone else having the same issue?

Do a factory reset and setup as new. I'm doing thr same to mine right now. My N7 is being used til I figure out if I need to swap the s7e out for a new one. Just got it yesterday and it updated today but it's been laggy since I bought it yesterday. My loaner was perfect so it is either hardware or software.

Today mine has been running warmer, slughish, and worse battery life.
Yesterday i did some app updates and Android System WebView was one of them. In the past this app has been known to cause some issues. So if anybody updated that then perhaps its the culprit. Thats what im blaming my issues on anyway.

Same here... Hella warmer than my n7 ever got. Don't recall my n7 batt ever getting above 85°f and cpu never got above 90° f and usually ran much cooler.

Just browsing the forums here, my s7e batt is at 95° f and the cpu is 126° f! Didn't look to see what temp was while charging, but it felt a lot warmer.

Well after a factory reset it still running hot...I'm gonna give it a few days, if it continues I'll have it replaced..

Got mine on Sunday and it ran kinda hot initially. It's definitely cooled off since then. Mine really only gets hot when using the Gear VR now. Battery life also seems to be improving a little each day as well.

Hopefully mine does the same. Battery life has been pretty sucky too.

I exchanged my Note 7 this morning. On the drive home I connected the Edge to my car charger, a Motorola OEM charger that I've used for years since my Droid days. I found the Edge to be getting very hot, really hot,..... The Moto is not an adaptive charger. I'm now charging the Edge on the Samsung wireless Fast Charger that I used with the Note. I'd say that the phone is just a few degrees warmer than the desk the charger is sitting on. Maybe these phones need the adaptive charger to keep cool. BTW what app are you using in your screen shots?
