New Samsung 256GB MicroSD Card - Format or Not?

Got my free 256GB card from Samsung. Put it in the phone and it shows 13.25MB used of 238GB

Should I format the card before using it or not?

yes. Its always better to format before using new card in device

I didn't format mine. Works fine. Don't really see the point of doing it, but it's not like formatting it will hurt it

Same here no formatting. Also coppied my older sd card using a USB card reader connected to the type C port. Wow was it fast.

ALWAYS format any storage. You're just asking for problems for something that takes like 10 seconds to do. I had issues with my phone around the same time I installed my SD card last week. Possibly just a coincidence. But, it's always good to rule it out right off the bat.

Yea, I'll give it a format before I start snapping pictures or putting anything on it.

No need to format this particular card. It is phone ready. Not the case though for most other cards.

For some this may be overkill but I'm planning on taking lots and lots of pictures
