New Sense?

i'd doubt it. i bet the Inc won't even see the next version of Android (might be HTC's fault or it just might be Verizon's).

i hope i'm wrong.

you are wrong, the Inc will be getting the update just not any time soon. in the mean while try out the hd dump. its awesome just one bug no camera

The Inc will definately see the next version of Android. There are plenty of developers and chefs that will see to it, weather HTC wants them to or not. Same with the new Sense. It's not a hardware issue. The Inc has the juice to run it, it's just a matter if you will have to root to take advantage or not...

android made front page of news week, i saw it in my docs office yesterday says gingerbread will be released by the end of this year!!

I did all my rooting with BlackBerry. Don't care to do so with my Inc. So, from my own perspective, I unfortunately may be right in saying the Inc won't see the next version of Android or the next version of Sense. I'm not interested in rooting this phone right now.

Upstreammiami -- do you have a copy of an HTC or Verizon press release that says the Inc will definitely be getting Gingerbread? If so, I'd LOVE to see it. ;)

Thanks.

You don't root blackberries, lmao... I have had a storm 2 with every single possible combination/permutation of os 5 on there. Blackberry doesn't block any other apps or themes, like the jesus phone and the android phones do.

What even makes you think the inc won't get 3.o our the htc sense, specially htc sens.e inc is not an old phone that is out of style. Verizon just started pushing more commercials of it . Remember the inc were out of stock cuz of samsung not because htc didn't wanna make anymore . The inc is the best phone on verizon

I agree 100%!

Thanks to the Developers out there we'll definitely get the new Sense. As previously mentioned, if you're rooted you can test drive it today - but the camera doesn't work yet.

It's just a matter of time, though.

Because that's business, Upstreammiami. Think about it -- Verizon is spending huge amounts of capital to build up a new 4G network, and these Incs will NEVER work with 4G. Verizon knows they'll be nailing 4G customers with a more expensive tiered pricing plan. So, of course, Verizon will do everything they can to push you - and me - to the next phone.

Carriers offer 2 year contracts because they depend on you upgrading on a regular basis.

This was the only thing I hated about loading leaked OSes on the BlackBerry -- something was always broken. When you need every feature to function because you actually work for a living (lol), using hacks gets pretty annoying.

Anyway, good luck with getting the camera to work. Hope it works out.

The Incredible will get Gingerbread. If I were someone who walked into a Verizon store today and got an Incredible, do you think I'd go two years without an update? C'mon people.

And the new Sense too

These phone only really have a 1yr life expectancy, contrary to signing a 2yr contract. Within a yr there will be something better out sending the inc. to the dicontinued section. Look at the Eris, it was discontinued about the same time the inc. came out. jmo

Thought the same thing when I bought the LG Dare from Verizon. They didn't come out with any of the updates that were expected for that phone. Your thinking, while logical and rational, doesn't mesh with the reality I experienced with the LG Dare.

D INC is currently scheduled for "end of life" with Verizon on March 31st, 2011. There's still a chance we will get updates until then. But after that. All bets are off. (Funny enough, my new every two is up in April 2011 so me thinks I'll be getting a new phone then.)

Does the LG Dare has an OS on it, at least of the smartphone variety? I thought it was a simple touchscreen with email capabilities?

I understand your thinking but will point out an example of the opposite.

RIM and the Storm2....a lot of people went out and got the S2 with the hope of OS6 being released. Come to find out RIM is not releasing OS6 for their (what was) flagship device.

There are quite a few angry S2 owners out there. Check out Crackberry and see what I'm talking about.

So I get it, but I've seen worst case scenario happen as well:p
