New Shield tablet, what updates?? or fresh install at first??

I've got tablets so not new to android, do I let the shield update whatever its seeing next? Do I wait until all updates install then do a factory reset? I am trying to get the cleanest start point I can.... Not sure of best approach, not willing to root it.
It first did a room update now its prepping for lollipop...
Thanks, any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Your Shield will probably have a few updates to do. Take the updates, one by one and once it is on Lollipop 5.0 you can do a factory reset to clean it up and have a fresh start.
