New T-Mobile Moto X won't update

I got my Moto X today and attached my gmail account. When it prompts me for the Kit Kat update it downloads but fails to install. I get booted into the bootloader but none of the options in the menu work. The phone just reboots shows the boot logo then goes to the boot loader again. I get an error message that says 'Failed to hab check for boot 0x56'.
I should add that if I boot the phone into the bootloader myself I can enter command: fastboot erase cache Once I do this I can then boot up into stock 4.2.2 yet I can't do a factory reset from the settings menu. I get the same result as with the ota update.

Edited XML file (removed entire line of 'getvar' code) in factory image zip. Then I flashed the factory images using RSD Lite. There is a video guide on XDA.
