AC Question

When I receive a new text message and read and/or reply to it, my text message icon still has a 1 on it as if I still have unread new messages. The only way I can clear it is to delete that message or the entire thread. Anyone else seeing this problem? Droid Turbo 2, Nougat, using Google Messenger app. I've cleared cache and data, force closed, restarted, and performed a soft reset. Still keeps happening. I'm guessing it's a bug with the new software update.

Ditto. I'm hoping that a fix will come through soon since so many people are reporting the problem.

I'm having the same issue on the Moto Z Force Droid on Nougat. Seems to have occurred after a recent Google Messenger app update.

Same. Saw on a thread with Samsung Galaxy phone..Badge--something app was the problem. Don't know for this phone ??????

I just want to say I have the same issue after upgrading my Turbo 2 to Nougate 7.0. The Messages icon on my home screen shows 1 unread message even though I have read all messages. I only have 1 conversation and know there are no archives or unread messages at all. But still the Messages icon shows 1 unread.

I think I have found the issue. There is some sort of conflict between the Android Messages app and the Messages+ app. I am having the same issue with Android Messages showing unread texts even though I have opened them all. However, if you go to the Messages+ app, those texts are shown as unread. I "read" the texts in this app (and also set this as the default messaging app) and then switched back to Android Messages and reset this app as the default messaging app. The notification is now gone. However, for the moment it seems like you keep having to do this, unless you just use the Messages+ app as the default? Not looking to do this, so hopefully Android Messages releases an update in the very near future which corrects this issue.

Yes! I am so glad to see so many others having this issue. It started happening to me after this last update on my turbo. I did switch to message+ as default but then that one started acting crazy - giving me non stop notifications for old messages. Hopefully a fix is coming soon!

I have had the same issue! It used to not happen unless I received a group messages, but even that was rare. Now every time I receive a message both Messages and Messages+ receive them and sometimes even Hangouts gets it as well. No matter what I do I cannot get it to go away! I even disabled both Messages+ and Hangouts because I like the simplicity of the simple Messages app.:mad::mad: So annoying!

I have a Moto Z Play Droid running 6.0.1

Same. I have looked all over online trying to find a fix, but can't find one. I have uninstalled and re-installed and turned the phone on and off multiple times. It's driving me absolutely crazy.

I got an update to Android Messages (Google Messenger) today that fixed this.

I haven't seen any update yet to fix the same issue. My verizon text program options offered in the list a "activate" option and I selected that. It updated in some way but, nothing changed.
