New to Android, a Few Questions About Rooting

I just moved from a Palm Pre Plus that had the free mobile hotspot that I really liked for a quick internet connection. I think it is a bunch of crap to pay for it now. The only way to get it free is to root.

That leads to my first question... Is it worth rooting my phone just to be able to tether?

My second question is at what point of installing things with the root does it void the warranty?

As soon as you root your warranty is gone so think carefully and decide if that charge is worth no warranty. For me it rooted to get away from blur and all the crap loaded on my phone. But at the end of the day it's a personal decision

So if I have a problem and unroot and undo all of the things I changed, is there any evidence of the phone ever being rooted?

As long as you still have all the stock apps with no root apps they can't tell

So you're saying basically if I use the root to tether other devices, and that's it, that I could just uninstall to redeem the warranty?

P.S. sorry for all the stupid questions and thanks for the help!

Hi, wdcoff.
Welcome to Android Central. You can Unroot then do a full complete reset on the device.

You can always get mobile hotspot - you just have to pay for you. If you really think you need to have free mobile hotspot, then you'd have to root your phone.

Best of luck.
