Hello guys, I've just got an HTC EVO. I have a pretty basic understanding of the workings of Android (I think) and was just wondering if you guys have any "must-know" tips or tricks to improve battery life/overall performance or just any cool tricks.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Congrats on the evo. Im sure you'll be happy. For battery life keep gps off unless its needed, keep wiifi off unless you are in range then I would shut off 3g and use strickly wifi as it uses less battery. DEFINATELY Keep 4g off unless your using it and shut it off when you're done with it. Take a look at apps like "juice defender" in the market as well. Screen brightness and timeout time also affect power (that's a given). As far as performance and "cool tricks" rooting definitely helps but you should research that and see if it's for you. But some of the goodies that come with rooting are free wireless hotspot, newest software, ability to modify to your liking or customization out the whazoo. But rooting and Rom flashing isn't something to jump into so that's why I recommended researching it. If you stay stock you can customize with launchers in various ways (ADW, GO LAUNCHER, LAUNCHER PRO etc.) Definitely download a cache cleaner for memory. That's all I can really think of. Somebody smarter than me will supply you with more stuff I'm sure. Also if you go to Android Forums Home you'll see section called "general help and how to's" there's a sticky there called "android tips and tricks"
