The biggest downside I've found is one of the "improvements" made in 2.3.4. The major one that bothers me is that apps are no longer able to take calls. Why is this important? Well, say you want to set up Tasker as a call blocker. Most profiles use the "Take Call" action to do that. "Take Call" doesn't work once you upgrade. I didn't learn that until I'd purchased Tasker to replace my call blocker, which quit working after my upgrade. I also believe that's why that call-blocking app quit working after I upgraded; it was probably relying on that same functionality to immediately intercept the call and kill it. It just causes com.android.phone to FC now. It's another app I paid for, and one that I absolutely loved. If I had known about that before I upgraded, I wouldn't have done it. Not in a million years. From my experience, there's so little improvement for general usage, that losing functionality I really, really depended on is a killer. I'm still furious about it and wish I could go back to Froyo. So what are the down sides to upgrading to 2.3.4? I know the baseband gets upgraded, which makes other ROM flashes trickier (at least as I understand it). Anything else? Is it worth it to upgrade?
