Hello all. I'm a long time computer user. Started learning way back in 1975 in Jr. High. Continued learning through High School (MS-DOS, Basic, Fortran, COBOL, C, Pascal, etc.). Went to college for 2 years as a Computer Science major, but dropped out after 2 years and joined the USAF. Returned to College and got my BSME.

Anyway, a few years ago I got my first Smartphone, supplied by my company. It was an iPhone 6. I really enjoyed that and I now have an iPhone 6s that is my own. For Christmas I got a Tablet that's has Android OS (Naxa NID-1009). A friend of mine won it in an auction a while back and it was just sitting around, doing nothing, because he and his family have a lot of tablets. So they gave me the Naxa.

It not a great tablet, by any stretch of the imagination, but it's gotten me interested in learning more about Android. I'd also like to buy a better tablet than this one I have now. It's really S-L-O-W.

I'm not looking for a phone. Think my iPhone, but with no phone and large (i.e. a tablet). I'll be snooping around and will ask question(s).

Welcome. :)

Many of us have a mix of devices and operating systems. Snoop around and enjoy. :)

Welcome to Android Central! Not a lot of good recent Android tablets -- Samsung is basically your only choice for high end ones. I don't count Huawei since you probably can't run Google apps on them. Lenovo makes some decent midrange/budget tablets, but their main selling point is tight Alexa integration (which I don't need). Chrome OS tablets are potentially an option -- I have both the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 and the Pixel Slate, and they both work pretty well as tablets. Lenovo's IdeaPad Duet that was announced at CES might be the ideal Chrome OS tablet -- it's like what the Pixel C should've been (since it was originally intended to be a Chrome OS device).

Welcome to Android Central.

Have fun with your new tablet. I have an old tablet myself, a 2013 Nexus 7. I still use it regularly when I want something a bit bigger than my Samsung Galaxy S10+, such as reading ebooks.

Guess I should post an update. I got rid of the Naxa. I just couldn't deal with the slowness and lack of memory, etc. I purchased a Lenovo Tab M10 HD. Much better. But I am having a few frustrating issues. Things I can do on my iPhone but don't seem to work (or have a way to do) on my Tablet. I'll snoop around the forum and see if there are already answers. If not, I'll post a question.

That's great! Let us know how you are liking your Lenovo tablet!

New tech is the best. Android is a great platform and the experience can change daily depending on what you like and how much time you want to spend customizing it.
