Hi, im new to the forum and android phones in general, ive been looking on here for a couple days now and fianally decided to join.

i am eligible for upgrade from sprint on december first and had decided to get this phone. i do have a couple questions about rooting and installing ROMS

can i just install the ROM?

or do i have to root it first then install the ROM?

from what i can see, thundeROM seems to be a fan favorite here so i would probably be using that one.

any other tips you guys want to share with me?

thanks and looking forward to posting on here!

Yes you will need to be rooted before you can install any install any custom roms. You will also need a custom recovery. It can all seem a little tricky at first. After you do it a couple of times you will be addicted. I own a somsung moment. I try out a new rom at least every couple of weeks.

Hey glad you joined I just was looking at this phone to but have been flashing for a while since g1 days old haha but most of the things youll need is first there is a post on how to root youll need to set up your pc for adb to get your phone connected for the next few things or you could do the easy way out with z4root on the android market free but you won't see whats going on and youll want to brush up on command prompt always good to know and then you can use ksmithny's root method and also includes grate tips on what apps you can use to better your phone and then you could start flashing the thunde 1.2 rom hope that gives you a start map on how to get your phone up and ready and the info you need is on the stickys at the top always read first then go ahead with anything ya like good luck and have fun lol ;-)

if one was going to do this, can someone please list the steps in order? it would be much appreciated.

The instructions for rooting, installing custom recovery, and ROMing are found in the stickies section.
