Hello
I've been with android for a while now since the my touch 3g on tmobile.
I've also been following android central a while but I'm new to the forums.
Right now I have the Samsung galaxy epic 4g (not the touch) but im looking to upgrade to either the htc one or S4 really soon.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Try some of these threads:

By now there are people with a lot of knowledge of both devices that you can ask specific questions and get detailed answers. Otherwise, I'd also recommend the reviews here:
Samsung Galaxy S4 review | Android Central
HTC One review | Android Central

Good luck!

I can't offer advice on this because I'd tell you to go Nexus or at least wait until next week to see what Google has to say at I/O :)

Welcome to A|C Jron. As "Nothing" pointed out, there are lots of posts in both the S4 and HTC One forums that can help, and if you have some specific questions that you don't see answered already there are people in those forums who will be happy to help. Since we don't know what's important to you, it's hard to make a recommendation. Each phone is excellent, but each offers certain advantages and disadvantages. Think about which features matter most to you (e.g., better speakers, swappable battery, day time pictures or low lights pictures).

Just be forewarned: Both brands have their fans, the the arguments disagreements discussions can get a little heated at times. Don't take it personally. :)

Like Meyer said, it's hard to say. I would suggest getting the specs for both phones and list them side by side on a single sheet of paper in black ink. With different color inks, say blue and red, circle or cross out features that are deal makers and breakers. Then, with your list pointing to your device, go to a store and mess around with that one first. You may be surprised that what's in black and white doesn't always mean anything in the real world.

My personal opinion: I like removable SD cards. I like having an inexpensive way to expand my storage to potentially double what my device can have. I typically store music, pictures, video, and ROM backups on my SD card, and leave my internal for Apps (Apps tend to load faster from internal storage, thus why Android 4.0+ doesn't allow app transfer to SD cards). I also like having removable batteries. I have had times putting custom ROMs on my E4GT (Sprint Galaxy S2) encountering bad flashes, boot loops, and the only thing saving me is pulling the battery to start over in recovery.

So, my own list points me to the S4. I am in no way saying the HTC One is a bad phone. It is an awesome phone. I have held it, played with it, and I can see why many people like it. I am actually glad HTC came out with such a powerful phone. Hopefully, this gives HTC some breathing room for the next fiscal quarter or three. Because I think that someone new to the Smartphone market, or anyone who is about to upgrade for that matter, should have a choice in what phone to get. And that choice shouldn't be Samsung or Apple.

Either way since this looks like your first post Welcome if you are indeed new here and we will be happy to help you. Please feel free that after you visit the 2 forums of the phones you are interested in, If you need to know anything please feel free to ask us. Thank you.
