New To Google Messages...Questions About Image Downloads & Calendar.ics files

I am new to Google messages. I have been using Samsung Messages since forever. Just realized things work very different with Google Messages. For one there is no trash can for deleted messages. You delete and they are gone forever.

Is there anyway to change the default storage location when you download an image?

Also, is there any way around having to download the calendar.ics file then import to calendar? With Samsung Messages I used to just tap the message and it would pop up with open with and I could just open directly in the calendar.

Any help is appreciated.

Yeah Google messages works a bit different, you can use an app called SMS Backup & Restore in play store which can periodically back up text , Google back them up but can only restore when going between devices as you don't have access to it because in the cloud

I didn't want to start a new thread but I use Google messages. And this just started when my mother-in-law will text me I see the text in my notifications but it's not in my chat list. I can type in her name like I'm going to send her a message and then I see all of our conversations. She's not blocked I checked archived and I cleared my cache and rebooted my phone it's weird.
