Been lurking. Just thought I'd say hello.

Enjoying my new (and first) android device. Switched from RIM (had blackberries for years).

Still getting the hang of it and learning. So far, I am impressed.... but admittedly still experiencing the challenges of the paradigm shift.

Looks like a fabulous forum for someone who wants to learn and get more familiar with Andriod devices.

CHEERS !

I've tried to switch several times, and I'm still having thoughts of switching back again but who knows! MT4G might have me sold!

I just got the phone yesterday and I am really enjoying it so far. The keyboard is the only pain so far. Its going to take a lot of geting use to. Keep in mind that I came from a blackberry so I was use to an actual keyboard. The phone is defintely one of the top smartphones. Does anyone know how to only enable 2g network?

Thanks

I came from a Bold 9700, and it took a couple days to get used to the keyboard on the mytouch...now I love it! The swype is very amazing!

You can see my signature for a great write up on getting started with android.

I think the closest you can get to 2G only is to turn off always on mobile data.

Coming from a blackberry you're used to awesome battery life, and this phone is pretty good on battery, but you also have to consider how much more this phone can do than a blackberry.

I can get a solid days use out of my phone if i'm on it light/moderate usage.

I am getting used to swiping. It is quick, but takes a little getting used to. My wife has a TMo G2 with the full keyboard. I find even the *analog* keyboard a little awkward relative to a RIM device. Makes the phone bulkier and a little awkward for me. I chose to go for the smaller footprint of the MyTouch 4G and force myself to learn the swiping. So far, so good, for me.

WRT to the 2G mode only:

i THINK you can do that via:

Menu Button --> Settings --> Mobil Networks --> Network Mode ---> then make your selection from the options.

As indicated, I am still learning myself. But, I THINK this is where you do that. Maybe someone more knowledgable can chime in....

Thanks but do you know which choice is only 2G?
