I want to know what is the best way to root my evo.

my phone details
2.2 version
kernel version 2.6.32.15
software 3.29.651.5.

Also what would you use to back up the orginal system if i brick my phone or have any trouble?

Also I heard of unrevoked 3 and unrevoked forever what is the difference. which one is better.

I would recommended to not use unrevoked. If you click on the link above this forum you can get to the rom/hacks section. There are detailed guides there on rooting your phone from 2.2.

As a backup plan a ruu (rom update utility) is an exe provided by HTC that will restore your phone in case it all goes wrong or if you ever want to go back to stock.

Is there a thread that will tell me the difference between" flash"and"push"?

Push is a term used for ADB (which is used in the real rooting method in the sticky). Flashing is something you do from recovery on the phone itself.
