new to rooting and need a little help

i just used z4 to temporary root my phone, tried to oc my phone but it will max out @ .94mghz, i was wondering if its possible to flash a better kernal to oc and can i load custom roms being i am only temp rooted....

You can't flash a custom kernel when you're temporary rooted.

You're exactly right though, you do need a custom kernel to OC your Evo.
