i’ve been using android for years but this is my first samsung. i have the AOD turned on. i can see my lock screen wallpaper and clock. to open device and use, i know i can push the power button and then swipe up. but i when i’m at my desk and have the phone sitting up in portrait orientation, i just want to tap the screen to wake up and allow me to swipe up. but it doesn’t. i thought it was maybe a double tap to allow me to swipe up and open, but not always. it could be me not able to double tap fast enough, but i end up tapping the screen like crazy till the screen allows me to swipe to open. can anyone help me? i’m obviously doing it wrong. i have used sony, vivo, motorola, and google devices.

In Settings, go to Advanced features and then Motions and gestures. I think that's what you're looking for.

that looks like what i want. i turned off the double tap, but now i can’t unlock without pushing the power button. on other devices i’ve had i just tap the screen once to unlock and then i can swipe up.

I'm very new to Android and Samsung as well. I haven't set this up yet, but this should be what you're looking for.

So, in Settings, go to Lockscreen and AOD.
Then, Screen lock and biometrics. After you enter your PIN, go to the Swipe option.

thanks for your help. that isn’t what i want. i don’t want to have to press the power button. when the phone is standing on my desk to press the power button takes two hands. i guess i just have to get better at the double tap to unlock.

thanks to everyone for your help. i’m getting better at the double tap. i noticed i was moving my finger for the second tap. so i wasn’t tapping both times in the same spot. and the movement causing a delay. being careful and my success rate is improving!
