new to the dx, need some help

i know im at risk of a proverbial beat down, but i dont want to screw up! i have done alot of reading, but i just cant figure out a couple things.

1. i would like to install the official rooted & deodexed gingerbread rom, but im not sure what rom to use?
2. can i use rom manager to install, once i figure out what rom to use?

- i am rooted with a gingerbread rom installed now
- on the thunderbolt i had, i would just put the rom zip on the sd card, then use rom manager to flash

any help would be appreciated!

Not exactly. Look at the sticky at the top of this section. "All things root" it has everything you could ever think of when it comes to installing roms. I use it all the time.

the TeamBlackHat app is great for deodexed and odexed builds of GB to install. If you lose root, you'l have to sbf then re root and then build up the build you want.
Rom Manager is a great app for install independent builds of GB roms.

If you want froyo roms, just sbf back to 340 and u can start using ones like CyanogenMod7(nighties) and MIUI(weeklys)
