Been browsing this site for a while now but just now joined. This site has been very helpful for me. I am probably going to get flamed but here goes. I have been reading up alot on rooting and have just a few questions. I am wanting to root for teethering mainly. I am not comfortable nor do I totally understand over clocking or roms. I do not want to mess with anything to complicated either. Has anyone that has rooted had any problems with verizon after using the free teethering? I was planning on using the dorootforwindows program to root, if I use this program what are my options for an unroot process if need be? Any help, pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Rooting is pretty easy. If your using the one click method you should not have a problem. Make take a couple tries to root it due to complications of having your phone be detected and saving the files in the correct places.
But you should not be worried about bricking your phone. If something happens the command prompt will just say failure or something along those lines with nothing effecting your phone. I Aldo remember reading that its super easy for Droid x owners to fix their phone if something happens. Motorola has a file that you flash on your phone to get it working again - this is because they have that locked bootloader - I take it they knew people would try to root and made it so its easy for people to fix. Look it up on Google or the forums because idk the name of the file or anything.

Once you root overclocking and roms will be very easy to understand. I have an epic and this is my first android phone and first time rooting etc. It was easy (thanks to the one click methods) just do a little research and you'll figure it out.
Follow the directions to a t and read through all the directions on the one click root thread.
Typically they'll have the same one click root uninstaller on the same thread or even in the same file

Welcome to the boards! We actually have a sub-forum specifically for root-related topics. I'm going to go ahead and move your thread over there. You can also peruse the threads in that section for some good info about rooting and modifications.

I've been rooted since I got my phone in July and am constantly running Wireless Tether so my kids can run there computers when we're on the road. You'll have no problems from verizon.
