New to the TB sorta

OK so my family is sorta inheriting a TB that I get to play with until we decide what to do with it. It might replace the one Fascinate we have left but we will see.

I would love some advice since I have been behind in keeping up with this phone.

The first question is how to return it to stock. Is there an odin package around to do just that? I can do a factory restore I am sure, but i would like to go back to the beginning and do the OTAs.

Next up, got a thread for rooting? How about the ROMs that are out there? I know they are subject opinion but what are the good ones out there?

I know that I am going to head out to read up on all this but I am looking for some direction ..

ODIN is Samsung only. You would have to get an RUU and flash that to return to stock

BIG contradictions in this... you want go to Stock and get OTA... then you talk about Rooting???? If you are not rooted you will be getting OTA's... if you are not then you should not have a question about rooting.

If you want to check out how to root then look up to the top of the forum on the Revolutionary method. If you are rooted and want to return to stock, then you might look at How to return rooted device back to stock! ROOTED USERS - RootzWiki

If you want to look at what ROMs are out for the TB, then go to the List in my signature below... but please be a little clearer on what your current status is and what you want to do with your device if you are not sure.

Before we get into ANYTHING else...

Is the phone currently rooted, and what are you running on it right now?

(As Fatboy mentioned, you say you want to "return to stock", but then ask about how to root -- if you're NOT running stock, I'd assume that you ARE rooted, no?).

And...if the answer to the above question is that you are already rooted, I'd highly advise AGAINST flashing back to stock unless you have a very good reason to do that.

If you're rooted and just want the latest, updated software then find the 2.11.605.9 rom and flash it. I would advise against unrooting, going back to stock and then rooting again. Only unroot when you're sending the phone in for warranty replacement.
