New Unihertz QWERTY keyboard phone underway

That's the first Mr Mobile review I have ever watched, and I don't generally watch videos to get my information. I have no real idea about how he normally reviews things, but I found for that video it was almost seemingly trying to be dramatic in what it (the message) was presenting.
Despite everything, he probably helped the Slim regardless by making his viewers aware of its existence...which is the first step to generating a sale lol.

I think they're both honest.

M Fisher doesn't spend enough time on the fact that the keys feel better than any of their prior phones, and surprisingly close to those of an actual Berry. That is a HUGE accomplishment in itself.
It's their third device, while it took BB years and millions to perfect their keyboard experience.

To be fair, the balance while typing thing I saw that coming the moment I saw the first leaked image, with that keyboard way at the bottom with insufficient chin space below it. Had the modifier row been at the bottom, it would have been close to perfect. But as is, it should still be serviceable with the rubber case and maybe a phone ring, which should help with grasp.

And he didn't mention how the spacebar isn't a fingerprint sensor, and therefore shouldn't be prone to failing down the road like the KEY2 notoriously did.

I agree with him that there isn't really an excuse for omitting the headphone jack on a phone this thick when most of their tiny phones have one.

It seems like they could have put a bit more thought into this one, but still, as is, being that the screen is bigger and the keys won't give the user sore thumbs, it should be a win overall even compared to the Pocket and especially the Titan. The OG Titan's keyboard is just bad (at least both units I had back in 2020) which means a glass keyboard was actually better than that one.

So the big question is, are you getting one? ??????

Absolutely, at least one unit, hopefully more. The improvement to the keys themselves alone makes it worth it and that was the main gripe I had with the Titan Pocket. My concerns about typing balance may be tempered by using the rubber case (which is a great idea anyway to cover the ugly shiny back) and I guess the case would also be adding 1-2mm of chin below the keyboard, which is always appreciated. Also worst case I'd get a phone ring to put on the back of the case to help with grasp if the balance while typing is as bad as Michael Fisher makes it seem. Adam with TechOdyssey didn't really think that it was a deal breaker of an issue.

Also, the 3.1" screen of the Pocket is admittedly a bit small for today's world. The Slim's 4.2" seems close enough to the KEYBerry's 4.5" in that it's a bit more serviceable, and apps will adjust to it better.

Well, let us know how you like it.

Definitely will do. Thinking of getting another Pocket in the meantime since the key press stiffness has apparently been addressed with the newer batch, according to a CB member.

The problem I have is I’ve finally had to give in to the larger screen. My eyes can’t take squinting to see or type on a small screen anymore.

The UH Slim will help with that. Bigger screen than the Titan Pocket and bigger also than those BBOS PKB phones from the past. The screen is still smaller than most modern day SLABS, but if one needs a PKB in today's age, the Slim seems to fit the bill.

I hear you on that. I went from a BlackBerry Z10 to a Samsung A21 for personal phone. I don't know how I coped on the "small" Z10 screen, with my eyes now how they are and also I think my fingers getting worse for typing. I do miss using a PKB for longer textual input.

Like any Android there is a setting to increase display and font size, but that would result in more scrolling to see the same content as on a slab.

As always, trade offs with everything...

Yup, that's why I'm back with Android. Wanted a larger screen (no scrolling) but didn't want to pay $10,000 for an iPhone. LOL.

Very true. For me I don’t want to scroll if I don’t have to but I can understand where a pkb would take precedent for some.

Not an endorsement from me as I won't purchase Unihertz devices in general, but the Kickstart date is May 10th for anyone interested.

If @the_boon gets a chance, I believe there's a link..
