New update is causing problems with texting

[Android Central Question]

When I go to send a new text message, an old sent message pops up with a picture and all. There is no recipient. I have to delete the message, the subject line and the pic before I can send a new message...........every time. This does not happen when I respond to a message that I receive. I have the Note 8 on Verizon. Any help would be appreciated as to how I can get this to stop.
