New update landed. Downloading now.

A couple other watches got a minor Tizen update as well. I suspect it will come to Galaxy Watch in the near future. Even though it was very minor.

Downloaded the update yesterday morning and the HR has been vastly improved, maybe even spot on. So far it matches or is very very close to my Garmin Felix 5 with Polar H10 chest strap. We’ll see how it performs over time, but so far I’m optimistic. Seems like sleep tracking is more accurate too.

So far it seems like it was pushed to Bluetooth watches in US and maybe elsewhere. I haven't seen an LTE user pipe in yet.

Yeah, I just checked and I do not have an update for my T-Mobile Galaxy Watch. Glad to hear that the deep sleep issues have been resolved. I'm a bit worried though about the battery life issues though, so maybe this is for the best.

You mentioned earlier that you had not done a full reset yet. Have you done so, and if so did it resolve the battery drain problem?

Deep sleep is not what I would call fully fixed but it's better. If you compare it to Sleep as Android it's still not real accurate. Heart rate seems resolved. I had no battery drain so I can't comment on that. My battery has been great all along.

I still have not done a full reset. I haven't need to buy I may just to see if it does anything else with sleep tracking.

Ok, I'm impatient. After checking too many times if the new firmware (R800XXU1BSA4) had landed in Holland with no result, I started digging on the internet to find a way of downloading and installing the firmware manually, which I used to do for older phones using the Odin software.
Found it.
If you can't wait like me: you can find the instructions here.

You'll need OdinNet3 for Tizen on your PC/Laptop, and of course the firmware files. You can find the download links on the mentioned page.
Please make sure you are downloading the correct firmware for your watch.

Would I recommend to do it? I think it's not for everyone. Part of the trick is to set up a wireless access point, (your watch will set up a Wifi network, your PC/Laptop has to connect to that Wifi network), and I had some problems connecting my laptop to my watch (OdinNet3 didn't show an IP address). It worked in the end, so I am happy, but I have some experience in solving such issues. If you don't I can imagine the process is more frustrating than waiting for the firmware to arrive in your region.

Installing firmware this way will give your watch a full reset so make sure you make a backup of all settings, apps and watch faces before you start.
Strangely enough I had to restore my apps and watchfaces a few times to get all my watchfaces back. So be aware.

If you want to see how it works, here's an instruction video for the gear fit2, but it works exactly the same way.

It's not for me, Peter, but well done! Hope you are enjoying some improvements?

Thanks Sonnet, but too early to tell.
Although I don't really need it, I hope that sleep detection is indeed better, simply because it is interesting to have the technology at hand. The first night with the new update gave me 26% REM and 0% (3min) deep sleep, so I am doubtful about how good it now is.
I am also curious about battery life (although it already was quite impressive), and how HR monitoring has improved during a training.
As soon as I have a good impression I will let you guys know.

As soon as I paired my watch to my phone the update was available and I installed it. Almost 64 MB I think.

I'm on T-Mobile and still no update. I'm not in too much of a rush though. The last thing I want is a shoddily done update that destroys the watch's excellent battery life. My Gear S3 used to have pretty decent battery performance, then when the Tizen 3.0 update came out my battery would drop 50% over the course of an 8 hour workday. I realize this isn't a major version update, but I hope the developers take their time and get it right.
