New update tonight!!!!

I sure as hell hope the improved data connectivity also includes GPS. That is what is pissing me off the most. I didn't realize how much I relied on that until it didn't work. Then the VZW store employee tried to tell me that it is working fine and the GPS will not start until you start moving. He then downloaded the GPS status program and as he turned, the compass rotated. Irregardless that the bottom of the screen showed that it was still searching for a GPS signal.

I'm wondering that too. I doubt we will get the software update, but I guess we'll see tonight.

If not, someone will post it and we can install it just like the original leaked MR2 and we'll be right back on track with everyone else. I'm not too worried about it.

I called customer service today to ***** about my problems with the Thunderbolt , and I can confirm they told me there is a update coming tomorrow . I asked him if it was the gingerbread and he stated Yes , but from what I read on Verizon site , does not sound like the Gingerbread . WTF I thought the major update is coming .

According to the VZW support twitter, the non-GB reboot/GPS fix starts tonight. Doesn't necessarily mean everyone gets it tonight, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Maybe the GB update will come once the reboots are fixed.

wtf does reduced number of power cycles and resets mean?

reduced?

they still will happen?

Maybe they say reduced so in case reboots do happen, they won't get as many complaints. No idea. I guess it's better than "enchanced" phone. :p

It's probably a "safety" claim. Every phone will reboot once in a while, so they can't claim to eliminate them altogether. FWIW, I am running the leaked MR2 and I still reboot periodically.

As I've said before, I don't think they can completely stop them from happening. It's probably a compromise among a number of issues that achieve the best result for the many variations among phones, towers, bands, etc. MR1 increased the frequency of reboots but the issue predated MR1.

I called Verizon today and told them my phone was running hot. They said it sounds like it needs some Ice Cream Sandwich. Then I realized that my call didn't go through and all I had heard was a dial tone. Then I woke up. What does it mean?!

In layman's terms: "better battery life"...though how much better remains to be seen.

EDIT: just reread it in context. what it means is that it should fix the reboot problem. They cant say it eliminates them because any phone has a reboots once in a blue moon generally related to third party apps interacting with the OS and causing problems/
