New Upgrade DESTROYS BATTERY LIFE

I'm not so sure about yall, but I use a power widget to turn off data whenever I'm at work or at my desk. I figure, if I got my computer in front of my face all day, no need for my phone to buzz me about emails or facebook when I have it right in front of me already. I've been off charger for about 3 hours now, sitting at 91% and will probably have about 80 or so by the time I leave work at 5.

If I leave the office or if I need to use the net for something on my phone, turn data on...do my stuff, turn it back off. Works for me.

Exactly. When I'm in school my phone is in airplane mode most of the day so I usually get really good battery.

It is the screen, I'm sure anything over four inch display is going to drain very fast. I checked mine a dew days ago and I was blown away at the display percentage. It was 60-70%

I definitely got the 3800 mah extended battery. Bulk doesn't bother me at all. Feels better in my hand. Also got the seido active extended battery cover with holster that had a kickstand!!!! Man did I miss having a kickstand lol.

Can't really say if the update kills battery since after I got my gnex I installed the upgrade. I do know that browsing web on 3g kills the battery way faster than surfing on WiFi. Hopefully once the 3g speeds improve and lte hits next year in Des Moines battery life improves since the phone won't have to work so hard for the data

Actually what most phones including this one has is "assisted"gps.. which means it uses the towers to triangulate where you are. And you would be shocked how often our phones check in our locations to the mother ship. Watch your left corner sometimes on your phone and you will see a target looking icon randomly pop up from time to time. That's from what i have noticed Google maps checking in thanks to Google services. I've come to that conclusion from watching my running apps section of settings one afternoon when that icon kept popping up and i noticed my battery life draining faster then normal. Every time that icon would pop up Google maps automatically popped up. Now in a good signal area that normally is no big deal. However if your in an area they are still doing tower upgrades then your phone wastes juice trying to get signal. I turn off my gps location services until i need them for things like Google maps or weather bug. Then turn my gps off when i am done with those apps. My battery life stays at an acceptable drain.

agreed. Android OS seems to check in with GPS quite a bit. i've noticed the GPS icon clicking on a lot at almost every unlock. maybe it's my weather widget - but i'm not sure. hence - i keep GPS off until i need it for Maps etc.
