New (used) Viper root Question

My Viper arrived and its running stock Gingerbread. Can I root it and use the RootKeeper app mentioned in other threads then do OTA update to ZVK and keep root? The method I saw was just downgrading to ZVI and using root keeper.

Too late, I did the update, LG did a very nice job with ICS. I guess I will just backtrack and root the phone if I decide to keep it. Coming from a S2 so its a bit of a downgrade size wise but nice phone so far, great screen and very loud speakers. No LTE around here yet.

Got it rooted after all. See my post in other thread. Don't know how anyone can use android without ad blockers.
