See a new Verizon Note 5 update this morning and was wondering if it's safe to download and install?

Anyone try it yet? I'm always a little nervous about these updates. :-\

I'm updating mine now. It started on its own. I've never really had an update that was pushed out by Verizon that messed things up (I'm not rooted or anything, so I don't care about that stuff), so I'm just going to see what it does. Probably just some random bug fixing or something or getting ready for the M release down the road.

i found it listed on phandroid.com posted on the 23rd about an update for various Samsung phones, including the Note 5.

Don't see anything yet. It took about 10 min or so. Trying to work and do it at the same time.

Verizon lists it as a security update

Posted using my Verizon crippled Note 5.

I was hoping update from Verizon will fix issue of high cell standby while on Wifi. It DOESN"T seem to have done that.

I was hoping to see Samsung Pay, but no go there either.

Downloading now on Big Red... I'm guessing it's just a stagefright patch 😑

Installed it onto mine, my phone has never ran hot before but now it is? I'm not gaming or anything so maybe it's just a coincidence or from the update maybe.

I saw this thread and checked OTA and there was an update. I downloaded it and installed it and it did work the phone hard during the install and the top half of the phone back did get warm.
I rebooted and did a Cache Wipe and then after another reboot turned the phone off to allow it to return to room temperature. Once it is I will reboot and see if it gets warm again or not.

UPDATE: I am having no heat issues of any kind after the update. The phone runs exactly as before the update and doesn't warm up with extended use. The update apparently didn't fix the Stagefright issue but there is no way for me to know if the testing app is accurate.

I took the plunge. No noticeable difference in temp. I installed, wiped cache in Stock recovery then rebooted. All is well.
