New Z2 Android user in need of advice

Two days ago I upgraded my contract and decided to go with the Z2 for the price, but also for the Smartband. I am still getting used to the phone, and will probably be trawling the forums a lot for advice in the next few weeks.

I do need some advice however for a very annoying problem. Since yesterday the Wifi kept on dropping at random times. There is no pattern to it at all. The wifi icon is normally fully white on the right side of the screen, but every now and then it drops away for a few seconds and then appears on the left side, but completely greyed out with a questionmark over it. I open the quick settings and go to Settings and click on Wifi. It says that it is trying to obtain the IP address, but nothing happens. I turn off the wifi and turn it back on, and voila, it works again.

And it's not the wifi. My Blackberry Z10, iPod, Laptop, and XBOX does not disconnect at all.

Not sure if this is the even related, but our internet is being throttled at the moment, due to overuse (someone hacked our wifi), but that still does not affect anything else connected.

I did some searching on google and it does seem that my SmartBand SWR10 could be at the root of this problem for a great many users. I will turn off my Bluetooth and see how it goes for a few days.

I am currently running Android Version 4.4.2 with Build number 17.1.2.A.0.314. Some seem to have been able to get this sorted out by downgrading the firmware of their phones. As stated, this is my first Android device. I have never on my BlackBerry Z10 messed around with the software. I only did the official updates.

What do I need to do to manually downgrade my phone's firmware? And how do I go about it? I assume I need the Sony Desktop software for this?
