NewBayService sucks up memory like crazy!

What is NewBayService on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 3? This app eats up memory faster than any other app on the machine! I have tried to find out what it does, or how to disable it, each to no avail. The phone allows for me to do a "force stop" on it, but will not let me disable it.

Do I need it? What does it do (other than use up precious memory resources)? There have been several other posts about a similar problem, but I have seen no answers to any of those posts.

I badly need to find out what this memory hog does -- and how to disable it, permanently, unless it is critical to my phone.

Thanks for any help that anyone can give me on this.

According to Verizon and Samsung, this is an app associated with the Backup Assistant service. It can't be uninstalled and interestingly, neither Samsung nor Verizon could tell me what it is doing and why it takes so many MB to do it. Half my monthly data is gone in one week -- however, I admit that I was doing some heavy clean-up on the BA online, so if it was syncing up the removal of 18 pages of pictures I didn't take (where does this crap come from?), maybe this was an anomaly. We'll see.

"NewBay" is apparently a separate company. If necessary, I will call them to see if I can't figure out what's going on here. Nobody should be putting a required, can't disable, can't remove app on a phone that takes up this kind of memory -- especially not when they make us pay for it.

Disabling apps is fairly simple.

menu button->manage apps (this should start the application manager)
Then pick the app you want to disable in the app manager if it can not be uninstalled they often can be disabled. So if you see an uninstall button you can remove it. If you see a disable button you can disable it. You may have to uninstall patches on the app in order to finally be able to disable it (I had this happen with some of the Verizon apps that I had installed updates for)

My disabled list has grown to the following (added one more since I last posted this in another thread):

AllShare Controller
AllShare Play
Apps
Backup Assitant Plus
Exchange services (I only use gmail on my phone)
Color
Media Hub
Music Hub
My files
My Verizon Mobile
New Daemon(EUR)
Polaris Viewer 4.0
S Suggest
Samsung account
Samsung Backup Provider
Samsung Cloud Data Relay
Samsung Cloud Syncadapters
Samsung Push Service
Stock Daemon(EUR)
Sync Service
V Cast Tones
Verizon SSO Engine
VZ Navigator
Yahoo! Finance
Yahoo! News

This list will be a problem for some folks since you may use some of the things I have turned off. When I have disabled all in this list I have never noticed NewBayService doing much. So I think it is related to something in the above list.
