newbie - texts automatically converted to MMSs

(need anything else?...shoe size? favorite ice cream? favorite phone - definitely not galaxy ace!!)

my phone has recently started automatically converting SMSs to MMS - this is a real pain 'cause (a) it costs me (b) it can't always be opened by the recipient, even if they're using the exact same phone

In the messaging app's settings i've changed the MMS creation mode to 'restricted', but it's still happening.
Someone said i might need to change the message centre but i've got no idea what it should be, if that's what's wrong

Any ideas or suggestions?

When u send a text more than 470-480 letters it is automatically converted to text. Some smileys, sending contacts, links etc can also cause this. If u don't use MMS feature, Also delete MMS settings from your phone.
And if nothings works ask your service provider to block MMS ob your phone.
