newbie WIFI question

hi, gang!
I'm brand new to smart phones in general. Just got a Motorola Bravo running Android.
My home WIFI connection is solid as a rock, but my phone says it's connecting, then simply disconnects. I've never seen the WIFI symbol at the top of the screen, like they say you should.
this could be just newbie dumb-ness, but wondering if others have similar problems?
any suggetsion/solutions appreciated!

Welcome to the forum. Have you tried going into the WiFi advance settings. Try checking the settings again also restarting the mobile seems to fix any possible problem.
