Take this for what it's worth. Could be something or absolutely nothing. Saw it on twitter this morning.

Please for the love of God Google make this for every carrier and all 4Gzzz
If Apple can stick a CDMA/GSM radio into the next iPhone there should be no reason you guys cant either. There could be no better selling point then to have HSPA+, WiMax, and LTE versions of this phone.

I dont care who makes it. LG, Moto, HTC all make good handsets. (although a 4.3" qHD SuperAMOLED would be drool worthy, don't think we'll see 2 sammy Nexuses back to back though)

They could make one phone to work on all four major carriers, but no 4G. It's impossible to add in WiMax and LTE into a 'global' device. And even if they could, it would be the most bulkiest smartphone ever. But they should either make one device for GSM carriers and two for Sprint and Verizon with their respective 4G networks. Or just make one device and forget 4G. The latter would kinda suck.

Maybe we'll see a gsm/LTE version for att, a cdma/LTE version for Verizon and a cdma/Wimax version for Sprint.

I hope google makes an attempt to get it on most of the us carriers. If we do see an LTE option, I hope its compatible with both Verizon's and ATT's network.

Here's the thing though; LG has not been a partner with Google for long. Motorola's been there since the beginning of 'mature' Android, and they arguably put Android on the map with the original Droid. They haven't had a Nexus device yet, and I'm sure they're itching to try.

That, and I really could see Google wanting the next Nexus to have access to Verizon's LTE network, and Motorola has been Verizon's strongest partner with Android devices.

I know LTE uses a sim card, but Google needs the nexus to be standard GSM so it can work on any carrier around the world.

for everyone that thinks a qHD screen is is better than a SuperAMOLED+ do the math. Subpixels mean a lot.
qHD= (900 x 540) x 8 subpixels = 3,888,000
SA+= (800 x 480) x 12 subpixels = 4,608,000

This points tho the SuperAMOLED+ screen having an edge on crispness and clarity over the qHD displays that seem to be very popular recently even though its sort of a step down from the industry leader. but at least it is available for all manufacturers and not on a timeless backorder.

SA+ has 3 subpixels per pixel same as normal LCD including most qHD screens. The confusion is from the way it was originally described by Samsung (maybe intentionally misleading on the subpixel density). In the space of 8 subpixels of AMOLED, SA+ will have 12 subpixels, but in each case that space actually represents 4 pixels.

Had the EVO since launch day and just got the Nexus S 4G a few days ago and I'm in love! I was literally the first preorder at my local bby for the EVO 3D but now I'm thinking I might save my precious upgrade for the next nexus. I'm pretty sure I can wait it out with my nexus s but I really hope sprint gets this earlier then spring/summer next year!

uum they made the nexus s 4g for sprint which is cdma so they can make a cdma version they already have and I'm sure verizon will want in on the action since it sells pretty well. They can have two versions for cdma and for gsm.

I highly doubt HTC will be doing the next Nexus and Samsung doing another Nexus might be possible if there was any negative reason why HTC/Google didn't partner up second time. Then you have Motorola, LG and Sony left. I forgot wish editor it was that step down from Engadget but he stated long time ago LG was next in line. Unfortunately you can only go by his word which is not much but it's true imo that the Nexus will probably shift from Samsung for now. I think with Nexus google wants everyone to make at least one. HTC and Samsung are out of the running.

I believe HTC was chosen to do the first Nexus because they at time established their qualcom processors. Then they went to Samsung because of their amoled screens and the rise of their tablets. I would have to agree LG is most likely to be next to create Nexus phone because of fact of they first to do dual-core processors and they have that niche going for them. Google has already done the G-Slate and G2x so It's only natural they would do the next Nexus with them. Unless Google believes that since done G-Slate and G2x already with LG they could move on to Motorola or Sony.

Sony I believe is last if ever Google will partner up to do a Nexus phone with. Sony Nexus phone just does not apeal at all with anyone but Sony fans right now. Sony has great ideas but there product is not quite sound yet in the android department.

There is a bunch of new info on the nexus 3 on android and me!

i wouldnt call it a bunch...

just a few facts that are about an upcoming android device

720p toshiba display...
and speculation that lg is making the nexus

we all knew that the screen resolution is naturally going up
i just keep hoping google will actually push the limits again on what a phone should be.

the nexus one i have still compares to phones coming out today
while the nexus s is just a small step above that, getting beat by dualcore phones coming out in a month or so

the next nexus should be quadcore or whatever is the next iteration of phone processing tech
so that in the next year when the rest of the phone manufacturer's start catching up
the nexus won't be so outdated

granted the nexus one is outdated by current 1ghz phones but not by much
at least not enough for me to want to get another 1ghz phone

-Verizon LTE/CDMA version
-Samsung or LG-made (I have no problems with Moto, but they don't really have anything that's really special to me right now)
-If Samsung made, 4.3 inch SAMOLED+ screen, if LG, then one of their upcoming 4.5 inch IPS screens that is said to have a better ppi than the Retina Display
- Tegra 3 CPU
-2 GB DDR2 or 3 RAM
-NFC (just cause, let's not go backwards :p )
-Battery life that matches/beats the iPhone 4 on stock (at least getting that if heavy use is avoided)
-Thin with good build quality
-SD card support

Other things:
-An autostereoscopic 3D screen would be nice.
-That being said, I'd much rather have a single, high quality back camera than dual mediocre cameras to capture 3D video.
-A FFC should also be in there. It doesn't have to be anything special though, as long as it's there.
-If the manufacturer really *must* put their logo on the phone (I don't see why, HTC didn't), then at least make it inconspicuous. I love my Nexus S, but the god dang Samsung logo on the back is bigger than the Google logo.

Finally, Google makes the Nexus to be its developer phone and show off some new features in the software, that might be otherwise neglected; not to make a dream phone. This leads to certain design decisions (like the lack of SD card in the Nexus S; I don't think anyone really *liked* it as much as they were complacent with it, but Google wanted to call attention to feature of Gingerbread being able to utilize internal storage in lieu of one, and have devs code with this consideration; hence, they removed the SD card from their dev phone). I just hope, that regardless of what those final decisions are, that it will be a great phone that keeps up with its contemporaries.

I would be fine with a dual core lte phone for verizon. 4 inch screen. Other than that it doesnt matter since it will be a google phone and updates will come fast. Anything else is nice but doesnt need to be over the top as long as its dual core.

I couldn't agree more. A duel core, LTE phone, hopefully on Verizon. I would buy that phone in a second.

Dual-core is a lot more likely (if not guaranteed), but if there's even a small chance of getting the quad core Tegra 3, I hope they take it. Though I'll buy it regardless, I bought the Nexus S even though it was single-core, and I most definitely don't regret it. :) As for the 4 inch screen... 4 inch is a minimum for me. I'd really like a 4.3" screen, I'd probably even prefer a 4.5" if it were thin and sleek like the Samsung Infuse, but I think at 4.5" Google would risk alienating people who don't like humongous phone screens like I do. :p

But the most important thing by far is just the feature of being on Verizon. I'm ready to switch to something when I finally get a new phone; if the Nexus never comes to Verizon this time around, I'm either jumping ship to AT&T or trying the iPhone 5. I in fact was set on the iPhone before Google I/O came around and convinced me to stick around, but the more opinions I get from iPhone users, the more it seems that iOS might not be best fit for me (which is kinda obvious in retrospect, but I thought it'd be better than an Android with a locked bootloader). So I'll probably just take the fall to AT&T and suffer through the loss of service quality. Unfortunately, Sprint's a no-go around here, so AT&T is the only place I have left to go. :-\

I dont care what the new specs are, as long as it comes out for sprint first or at the same time as other carriers!

It always makes me chuckle when people say the Nexus S is soooo outdated.... I guess I don't really see how they figure... yeah, there are dual core phones out, but Android doesn't really do much in terms of taking advantage.... and what phone besides the Nexus S has an NFC chip?... and gets the Android updates as soon as they come out....

I also believe the next Nexus will be on Sprint first. With the partnership Sprint is forming with Google, I don't see it any other way.... Google Voice integration and now the upcoming Google wallet....
