Next phone?

I can't see myself going for another Google phone next time. I loved my Nexus 5, but the display colours were a bit off. I love my Nexus 6P, but the battery stinks. I just don't think I could bring myself to get another Google phone.

Now Samsung has lightened the load of bloatware, I've been tempted by the Galaxy S8. However, it looks like the S9 could be released as early as January 2018, so that's what I'm going for.

What's your next phone going to be?

note 9 or s10. There is absolutely nothing i can imagine that the s9 can do that the s8 cant.

I could be tempted by the Note, although the size concerns me. Might have to visit the store & try one out.

I really like that LG V30. That phone has caught my eye.

I recently purchased a refurbished LG V20 as the 'upgrade' to my Nexus 6P. When the battery on my 6P finally becomes unusable (AccuBattery currently shows it at 86%; I've followed their guidelines since purchase at release) I'll switch to the V20 as my daily driver.

There's lots of pretty phones out but none that make me want to drop $700 or more on them.

I would have tried the One Plus 5 but of course, as is the case with so many interesting phones that get released, it doesn't work on Verizon.

I'm very torn, personally. Weirdly it's coming back to an issue that I haven't worried about for a while: night mode. It's driving me crazy that Oreo keeps the notification bar so bright, and Twilight doesn't dim it. Of course, the Pixel has night mode. I also find it very annoying that several features of Oreo, namely the notification dots, don't work on the 6p (without Nova Launcher). I really don't understand why Google has screwed over Nexus owners by keeping key features as Pixel exclusives. When Apple updates iOS, the updates apply to as many generations of the phone as can handle the updates, so even the 5s will get iOS 11 with all of its features. I would normally say that my next phone will be the Pixel 2 when my 6p is no longer functioning adequately, but who's to say that Google won't just come up with some other brand and some other set of rules that applies? I kinda hate to take that $800+ gamble.

I purchased a OnePlus 3T as a replacement just in case 6P had battery or bootloop issue. Still no issues with 6P after over a year but I've used the 3T more over last month and have been very happy. Speaker and camera aren't as good as on the 6P but the 3T beats the 6P in overall build quality, performance, battery life and charging speed.

I have an iPhone 7 Plus and an S8. I'll get the iPhone 8 or X or whatever they're going to call it, and maybe the next Pixel XL. How ill am I?

I still really enjoy using my 6P and will keep it as long as I can. Huawei have impressed me with my 6P so I bought a Mediapad M3 tablet earlier this year which has been brilliant. If Huawei can come up with a phone which has a camera as good as my 6P and stereo speakers and an improved battery life then I may well be sorely tempted....maybe the Mate 10?

You're absolutely right. The Nexus 6P is an outstanding phone, but was badly let down by a poorly designed battery. A friend of mine has a Mate 9 and he feels the same about that. So there's no doubt the Mate 10 will be a fantastic flagship smartphone, but for me the battery has a huge question mark over it.
If the battery is there, then so am I
