I've been an Evo owner since launch day and have been wondering what will be the next flagship android phone for sprint aka the "Evo 2."

I followed CES and saw a bunch of motorola and other carrier next gen phones, but didn't notice anything for Sprint.

Anyone have intel I don't know about? I figured I would've seen it on androidcentral by now. Thanks.

Sprint is having an event feb. 7th, with david blaine in new york ( i think its NY?) so there might be something for us then but im expecting the RIM playbook / palm garbo.

Im expecting the summer to be big for sprint, just as last summer was.

I'll be holding out for that event...As far as the RIM/Palm tabs..if it's not a Xoom or something like it, I don't want it! ;)

It's called...the iPhone 4! Lol, I'm not kidding that it may actually be the iPhone from Sprint's perspective (if the rumor is true, that is). From ours though, I'm not exactly sure unfortunately. Has anyone else noticed that Sprint doesn't have very many Android flagships? The Evo and the Epic and maybe the Evo Shift are all it has got.

You have to remember that its not sprint that comes out with these phones. Its the manufacturer. Why would sprint want to buy rights to phones that are only as good as the evo now? My best bet is sprint is waiting for the phone that is really going to show up the evo and epic. That's MO

Sprint's customer base is half the size of VZW so I don't think they can sell so many high end phones. It's simple demand. T-Mo had a huge head start on Sprint as far as Android goes so it makes sense that they have more phones on the high end.

With the exception of it's Galaxy S phone, AT&T has half a dozen rather low end phones.

So I'd say Sprint's current selection is about right...

Does it need anything else? ;) Everything else is way down on the totem pole, with the exception of the new LG phone that has the Tegra2 in it. If you have the Evo, Shift and the Epic, you really don't need a lot of lesser devices, IMHO.

Ah, I see, guys. I now see why Sprint wouldn't have as many as someone like Verizon. However, I am definitely hearing rumors that the iPhone may actually be announced in February for Sprint. Unfortunately, it's not a matter of which phone is best, but how many people will accept it. There are quite a few Sprint users out there dying for an iPhone (like my cousin). Well, at least we know that technology is advancing, right? :)

I highly doubt the iPhone is coming to Sprint but I may be wrong. I highly think this cause I don't think apple is going to make three different types of iPhones.

They really aren't making different types of iPhones, they're just changing the radios. Otherwise the phones are identical; they're not like the Galaxy S line. in fact the iPhone 4 on VZW is not 4G because they didn't want to have to redesign the phone.

I don't understand why people can't grasp the fact that the iPhone is not an industry which is tin the first sentence of the flyer. It's not the iPhone people, get over it.

Exactly
People cannot and will not grasp that the iPhone is NOT coming to Sprint

Yes, it uses the same 3G technology as Verizon. However, Sprint is focusing on Wimax as their 4G technology as AT&T and Verizon (and Apple) are focusing on LTE as their 4G technology. It wouldn't make sense for Apple to release it on Sprint when next year the iPhone 6 more likely will be 4G and will (from what it looks like) ONLY be LTE not LTE and Wimax

Back on topic, I wouldn't be worried too much about what phones Sprint is releasing any time soon. The Evo and the Epic are still Sprint's two best phones to choose from. You also have the Evo Shift.

At&t doesn't have have 4g and until they get rid of GSM they will never have it. GSM is not designed to carry a data load like cdma is capable or running. That's what I don't like about at&t and T-Mobile, they claim they have 4g but it's really only 4g.

I can say ppl need to give sprint time for a new phone. No need for a subpar phone to come to sprint and not keep up with the evo or be no better.

First of all, as I said in another thread a while back, the Feb 7 announcement should be the first 3D phone by HTC for Sprint. Now about the iPhone. Sprint will get the iPhone sooner or later. Verizon has a non exclusive contract with Apple. If you did your homework, you would have read about an interview with Dan Hesse who said he would love to have the iPhone, if the situation is right. The rumor I am hearing is that the iPhone will come to Sprint late summer, early fall of 2011. They will be getting the iPhone 5 (possible with 4G(wimax). This comes from a source I have used in the past, who hasn't been wrong all that much, except the release of Froyo for Samsung Epic (which was pushed back because of problems.)

Back to the next great phone, HTC 3D phone!!

Interesting article, but right off the bat they got something wrong when they said the shortage of Evos was due to the AMOLED display. Yeah, the shortage of the Evo was due to the display, but we don't have an AMOLED one, they were thinking about the Incredible.

The other issue I am having is that they are saying that HTC is probably going to go with the Tegra T25. HTC has been using Snapdragons and Qualcomm in general for the past few years, so I am not sure if they will really go that route? I would be pretty happy if they did.

If what is written in that article comes true, I'd be one happy camper, that's for sure!

That 3D phone is wack... nothing but a gimmick IMO. And even if the iphone did come to Sprint their network wouldnt be able to handle it. The data is already bogging down just from the evos/epics so I dont even want to imagine what it'd be like with the iphone.

Still a gimmick? Lol
