Nexus 10 Gets Android 4.2.1 and fixes December bug

I came home from work and my tablet is asking to install it too. So I installed. Rebooted, performed an update, rebooted, then "optimized" my 110 apps. Then started up Was a quick update process, only taking 2 minutes!

Android: 4.2.1
Kernel: 3.4.5-g4e6298b
Build: JOP40D

Right after, an update for Chrome popped up saying "This version update includes a number of stability fixes and performance improvements". about:version 18.0.1025469

I am new to the Android world and it may seem like a silly question but can you tell me how to clear google framework and what impact will it have on the tablet?

To force the update:
Settings>Apps>Scroll right to All>Scroll down to Google Services Framework>Force Stop and then Clear Data>Then turn off and restart the tablet. The update should be waiting for you in your notifications.

how do you optimize your apps? and what does that mean?
i got the update last night.
thanks

I think he's referring to the automated process where the GApps "optimize" before it boots into Android, first reboot after upgrading.

I'm curious as to what was optimized or how our apps were optimized.

Thanks tsells.

I assume by clear the data it will not be like resetting the tablet and the data on my N10 will still be intact. It will only clear the Google services framework data.

Thanks once again.

But...
Some people, including me, have had Google Play stop working as a result of this. The only way to get it back included resetting my Google account on the phone resulting in all of my contacts photos being replaced by the blurry ones on Google's servers.
A minor pain, but I still remember having to go and redo hundreds of contact pics

I had no problems with Google Play or my Google contacts.

Go to system settings, apps. Swype over to show "all" apps. Find Google services framework. Click clear Data, then force close. Shouldn't affect anything else.
