Nexus 10 or Nexus 7?

Hey guys I've got a 16GB Nexus 7 which I'm giving to my mum for Christmas and her birthday and so I'm looking for a new tablet. I love my nexus 7 but I need more storage tbh.

The options:
  • 32GB HSPA+ Nexus 7
  • 32GB Nexus 10

The problem I'm having with the Nexus 7 is that performance (since the 4.2 update) has been all over the place. Sometimes it's as responsive as anything and others it takes ages just to load up the lockscreen when I press the power button. Gaming on it is also a mixed bag. Also the speaker on it is dreadful. I like to prop it up (in its case) on my bedside table and listen/watch podcasts on it before I go to bed and the speaker is just dreadful and as soon as I push the volume up to 3/4 it starts getting fuzzy. Full blast and it's unlistenable. I sometimes wonder if it's just a defect on my device.

On the other hand I love how portable it is. I can take it to college without it adding much or any bulk and reading on it one handed in bed is comfortable. The nexus 10 on the other hand is bigger and obviously bulkier but it packs a much bigger punch (or so the reviews have me believe). The reasons why I like the Nexus 10 are the display is stunning on paper, the speakers are better and are placed on the front, gaming on it should be better and the specs are obviously overall just better. How that translates to real life performance I have no clue. The downside of the Nexus 10 is that there is no 3G version and as I mentioned above, it's not as portable so taking it to college would no longer be a no brainer.

What do you guys think? Any feedback is more than welcome :).

And the end of the day its you that will be using this device. It appears that you are leaning towards the Nexus 7 for reasons mention, which make great points. However, if you feel it lacks the horsepower offered by the N10 and believe this to be a deal breaker down the line, then the N7 may not be what you are currently looking for.

The thing is I never felt that the nexus 7 wasn't powerful enough until the 4.2 update. It may be the update that's a bit buggy but maybe it's a sign of what's to come. If it can't handle 4.2 how will it handle future updates?

Anyone moved from a nexus 7 to a nexus 10 or got both care to chip in?
