Nexus 4 keyboard

I have a nexus 4 question. Keyboard will not replace my words...like when i type "u" want it to autofill with you, like my last android. I installed firekeys, but when I text, in landscape (phone turned to side), it won't find my contacts. I need to first add the contact in horizontal, and then turn to landscape to type. very frustrating. appreciate your help so much.
