Nexus 4 more than 3 weeks too late? Possible?

I've ordered a Nexus 4 in the US on the 27th of November and it still hasn't arrived. I was fairly lucky, so I got it when the shipping time said only 3-4 weeks, but it has been a few weeks past that time already and there's still no indication of my Nexus 4 shipping.
I couldn't order the Nexus 4 myself (I live in Europe, the Netherlands), so I made someone else order it for me. He's a relative of my father, so it's not easy for me to regularly contact him. He also used his own account, so I can't see the update status on the order. He's very busy himself, so I didn't make him find out what is causing the delay yet, but I'm starting to worry something has gone wrong and I'm not going to receive my Nexus 4 unless I contact Google. (He did get an update about 2 weeks ago, telling him that his Nexus 4 has been delayed and he had the right to cancel the order at any time if he wishes to do so).
Is it normal for the Nexus 4 to be delayed for such a long time? Anyone else experiencing the same problem? Or do you guys something has gone wrong and I should (make him) contact Google to find a solution?

Believe it. Family screw each other over too. Google sticks to their shipping quote, they either deliver by the shipping quote given or they'll cancel your order a day or two before their shipping quote expires. They won't just deliver after they're quote has expired, never. It probably has to do with legality.

I'm pretty sure that my family isn't screwing me. Why would they if I know who they are and have all their info. That however isn't the discussion I want to make, so thank you for the other information.

All I'm saying is they've probably chosen to enjoy the phone for some time and then ship to you later. Good luck getting it.

I would go ahead and ask your family friend to email Google about the delay.

Asking him to do it is no problem. It's just that he is so busy that I need to call him everyday if I want him to do it. If I don't he will just forget it.
