Nexus 4 - MTP Connection Problem

Hi,

I had a Nexus 4 and I was able to connect it to my laptop (windows 8) and was able to transfer files via USB - (MTP Connection).

We just bought one for my friend and when I try to connect it to my laptop, it does not work. The phone seems to charge, but the MTP connection does not work. On the other hand, when I change the connection as "Camera(PTP)" it works.

Can some one advice on why it does't work with an MTP connection? Thanks.

Not sure about Win8 but I know in WinXP that USB debugging needs to be off in developers options for it to connect as MTP. You can try to toggle this off/on to see of it makes a difference.

I tried toggling the USB debugging. But it did't work. What surprises is that my nexus 4 works properly but the one that of my friend's nexus 4 causes this problem, though on the same laptop..

I just ran into the exact same thing. My Nexus 4 works fine but wifes doesn't. Anyone have any ideas?
