Nexus 4: new ok google hotword Detection?

Has anyone tried the new Google hotword detection from any screen yet? Specifically, anyone with a Nexus 4?

My main concerns for this would be if it uses a lot of battery. I am pretty reluctant to try it out if it is the case.
