Hi, please visit: Android.com

Android File Transfer is an application for Macintosh computers (running Mac OS X 10.5 or later) you can use to view and transfer files between your Mac and an Android device (running Android 3.0 or later).

Though Macs' are supposed to just work, it seems not with android. My windows Seven box you can plug in the phone and transfer files including music right away.
My hackintosh is blind to the device, I guess its a matter of not being a Iphone. Just another reason I boot up the Seven box more often.

My Nexus S running Jelly Bean just mounts on my Mac, so why does my Nexus 4 need this app? My computer hasn't changed and AFT spews quite a few errors in console.

It's not Android, it's the Nexus 4 specifically. My One X would pop up as removable storage.

LG or Google need to supply drivers for it to work without third party software.

Hmm? My Virgin Optimus wouldn't connect to imac without the Android File Transfer app. It's been a year since I had it so it may have recognized the device, but I couldn't transfer anything (except through bluetooth). I was wondering if it was an LG thing like their older chargers not working on other devices.

If I leave the N4 connected long enough AFT starts to work. Show patience and push Google and LG to fix the experience.

I am having a similar problem, I just got my nexus 4 and when I try to plug it into my Mac and running Android File Transfer it keeps telling me " No Android device found" I tried with MTP mode and with PTP mode, I also turned on the debugging mode, and it still doesn't work. I have a nexus 7 and when I plug this one to my Mac it works perfectly and I can transfer files without any problem, has anyone had a similar problem, or can anyone help me please?

I have a couple of Macs, but I've never connected them to my N4 because I transfer everything over the Internet, such as Google for contacts and calendar, Amazon for music, Evernote for notes and Dropbox for files. What are you looking to do once you're connected?

I used SyncMate and Missing Sync with my HTC EVO, but both were buggy to the point that I switched to transferring contacts, calendars, etc. over the Internet.

ComoNexus: I want to transfer my music, is the amazon Cloud a good way to do it? IDave I already tried to turn off the Wi-Fi and its still not working. Any other suggestions? Thanks

Yes, Amazon is pretty good. The app shows you everything you've got in the Amazon cloud: both what you've purchased from Amazon and anything you've uploaded, such as from CD. Then you can select which albums or songs you want to download to your N4. The app integrates with Google's Play Music app, so once you've downloaded a song or album to your phone, you can play it from the Google app instead if you prefer that interface.

I downloaded the software and when i open it i am told to connect an android device via USB but when i do it wont recognize the device.

Makes use you install the program then restart the computer. See if that helps. If you are still having issues consider using a wireless solution, such as WiFi File Explorer or Air Droid and connect that way until you can address the issue.
