Nexus 4 softkeys stopped working

Hi,
I have Nexus 4 stock unrooted 4.2.2 since last december.
Today suddenly the softkeys stopped working in portrait and in landscape view when rotating counter clockwise.
When rotating clockwise to landscape the softkeys work fine and oddly enough the area on the left edge (the place of softkeys when in portrait) works fine.
Tried to hard reset but nothing helped.

Anyone encountered this problem?
Could it be software problem or is it the touchscreen?

Hi, mine has the same issue and it is not a software problem. I think the touchsceen area of the soft keys in the portrait model is spoiled. I have done many times hardware reset and flashing stock roms, but same problem persists.

When rotating the screen clockwise, is the area which was in portrait view the location of the keys, responsive? for scrolling web page for example?
I tried to get google's response to the problem but with no success so far.

Btw, i looked through many forums and i saw that this problem is quite known but couldn't find solution anyware.

After reading your post I checked my phone out of curiosity, soft keys on my set working fine both on clockwise and anti clockwise rotation

Having the same issue. But I think I am getting the issue because I answered a couple of calls while sweating a lot. I just hope it gets covered in the warranty.

Well guys, problem solved. The digitizer was damaged. Replaced the screen and got working again.

Hey so how much did it cost you. And was the damage covered in warranty and did you find out the cause of the damage?

Firstly i spoke with google's customer support. They told that the problem is known to them so the phone can be replaces within the warranty period.
My problem is that google doesn't support RMA in israel (i brought the phone fron New York) so i decided to pay for the new screen. The cost of the screen and the digitizer is about 130$ plus 70$ to a lab work fee. It talk half hour and the phone is as good as new.
